Last week Henriikka Huunan-Seppälä, with a background in French language & literature (!) and graphic design (we really seem to have a multitalented group here) presented (very) succesfully her MA final thesis on Михаил Михайлович Бахти́н, i.e. Mikhail Bakhtin. Although there were some witty graphic explorations included, the work was mainly textual. Huunan-Seppälä studied Bakhtin through fresh standpoints from female grotesque to what the concept of carnevalism could help us to see and understand in contemporary film and visual art. The work was partly written and decorated in a carnevalist manner, and assessed by Pekka Pesonen and Susanna Välimäki. (The pic here is one of Henriikka's illustrations. Copyright hers, no unauthorized use accepted.)
